Acting Deputy Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal
In a memorandum dated 16 June 2023, Acting Chairperson Judge Sarah Reeves appoints Judge Damian Stone as Acting Deputy Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal.
Judge Sarah Reeves has taken up the role of Acting Chairperson pursuant to s 4A(2) of the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, since the retirement of former Chairperson Judge Wilson Isaac on 1 May 2023. To support her Honours work in this role particularly during any periods when she is absent or unable to perform her duties because of illness or other sufficient cause, her Honour considers it appropriate to appoint an Acting Deputy Chairperson.
Pursuant to s 4A(1), Judge Damian Stone has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal for the period while Judge Sarah Reeves is Acting Chairperson.
