Originally they are known as Otetao A Block at Helena Bay was approximately 400 acres. Petition order dated 12th May 1894. Alienation of this maori land was by the Native Land Act 1909. Concerning: The claim relates to lands within the Marutuahu Tribal Region which were taken by various Acts of the Crown. They are claiming on behalf of the descendants of Hoterene Taipari and his son, Wirope Hoterene Taipari and others, Chiefs of Ngati Hauauru, hapu of Ngati Maru of Moehau, Kaueranga, Pukerahui, Ohinemuri and Katikati, as well as Central and South Auckland and parts of Mahurangi, including the Islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Pastoral leases in perpetuity, Crown leasehold lands, Crown lands held and administered as reserves, forests, parks, state and national parks. Lands taken by the Crown for public works, which inlcudes Coastal reserve lands, forests, parks, water areas, harbours, catchment control areas, re-creational fishing grounds, shellfish areas, mahinga kai grounds/wetlands, Mahurangi, South Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf. This claim is not part of the Waikato-Tainui Raupatu settlement
