Claimant: Jane Helen Hotere, Rosaria Hotere, Gill Parker, Miriama Soloman, Denis Hansen, Mereaina Pirihi, Rhoda Hohopa and Willie Tairua
Claim Description:The claimants allege that in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, the Crown failed to provide adequate protection for Maori in the acquisition of Maori Land, failed to provide adequate services in housing, health and education to compensate for the loss of Maori Land in tribal ownership and that the Crowns acquisition of Maori land in North Auckland was disproportionate having regard to the size and needs of the maori population and that such acquisition was the underlying cause of Maori leaving the North which lead to dislocation from their traditional lands and communities.
