Concerning: concerns the failure of the Crown to provide for the healthcare of Māori in respect of the sexual abuse of Māori wāhine and tamariki. The claimant alleges that the Crown has breached the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi by failing to: • Recognise that Māori wāhine and tamariki suffer sexual abuse disproportionately to non-Māori; • Address the underlying causes of the inequality between sexual abuse suffered by Māori as compared with non-Māori; • Provide adequate and Treaty compliant remedies to address the sexual abuse inequalities suffered by Māori wāhine and tamariki; • Provide an adequate healthcare system for sexually abused Māori wāhine and tamariki; • Provide adequate long-term support to assist Māori wāhine and tamariki in their rehabilitation from sexual abuse; • Incorporate Māori tikanga into the policy and procedures of the New Zealand healthcare system; and • Ensure that Māori who have suffered from sexual abuse are cared for in a manner cognisant and reflective of Māori values and practices.
