Concerning: The claim concerns institutional and interpersonal racism and its negative effect on the health of Māori, in particular the Hastings Mongrel Mob. The claimant alleges that the Crown has breached the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi by: • Giving Māori health a low priority and visibility within core policy documents; • Allowing Crown officials to use a process to filter the evidence that informs Crown policy that consistently minimises the input of Māori; • Employing Crown policy makers and senior managers who have no professional requirement or obligation to have cultural or political competency; • Failing to address and implement any key recommendations from landmark Māori health hui; • Designing and implementing health intervention and policies that fail to take into account the health effects of racism; and • Failing to adequately address the methamphetamine (P) epidemic, and therefore failing Māori because Māori a more likely to use methamphetamine than non-Māori.
