This report traces general Crown policies that impact on Maori knowledge and knowledge systems such as assimilation, integration and 'Closing the Gaps'. It also surveys matters such as education and Te Reo Maori (including an analysis of Native School Log Books); tohunga practices and restrictions thereon, rongoa, and cultural knowledge and customs.
