Dame Margaret Bazley has long experience as a senior public servant and has extensive knowledge of the machinery of government. She has many years of experience in delivering services to Māori in health, transport, and social services development. She has held the positions of acting chief executive of the Department of Work and Income, chief executive of the Ministry of Social Policy, director-general of Social Welfare, secretary for Transport, and deputy chairperson of the State Services Commission. She has held the positions of chairperson of the Foundation of Research, Science, and Technology and commissioner in the Commission of Inquiry into Police Conduct and is currently the chairperson of the New Zealand Fire Service Commission; a member of the Risk Management Committee, Legal Services Agency, and Royal Commission on Auckland Governance; the registrar of the Pecuniary Interests of Members of Parliament; and a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management and the Chartered Institute of Transport in New Zealand. Dame Margaret was appointed to the Tribunal in 2001 and is a member of the Wairarapa Tribunal. She is also a member of the Tribunal’s Governance Group. Next: Peter Brown |
